Pierce & Jenkins Make a Move, Wysocki & Locastro Out in Front

Round 4 of the 2016 PDGA Pro World Championships was a bit more of the same in the MPO Field. In the FPO Field, not so much.

It’s Not Over… Is It?

Ricky Wysocki may have sealed his 1st World Championships on Friday. He didn’t have the hot round at the Emporia Country Club, he didn’t break any course records. But, he didn’t give up any strokes to Paul McBeth. Wysocki now sits at 202 (-46) overall.

We have to give credit to Nikko Locastro. He has putted well, kept a cool head and really played championship disc golf. Not only did he outscore McBeth and Wysocki on Friday, he held on to 2nd place after the 4th round. Locastro carded a 55 (-8) at the Country Club.

Sitting in 3rd entering the round it seemed like the last real chance for McBeth to make his move. He started out 9 strokes back of Wysocki and a one back of Locastro. McBeth did birdie the first hole but followed that up with a bogey 5 on Hole 2 and a double bogey 6 on Hole 3. He wouldn’t really ever recover. This may also be the first round where anyone has seen McBeth card 2 double bogies in the same round! He would finish tied with Wysocki for the round at 56 (-7).

Falling of the pace a  bit was Nate Sexton. Sexton could only muster a 59 (-4) and has fallen back to a tie for 7th.

Your top 4 going into Saturdays’ semi-finals are Wysocki at (-46), Locastro at (-39), McBeth at (-37) and Cameron Colglazier at (-35).

Pierce and Jenkins Jump Out Front

Paige Pierce and Valarie Jenkins, both 3X World Champions made their move on Friday afternoon. Pierce carded a bogey free 55 (-6) to pull into 1st place. Jenkins would match her with her own bogey free 55 (-6) to jump into 2nd place. Catrina Allen could not get it going at Jones East and would fall to 3rd place, 6 strokes back of Pierce and 2 strokes back of Jenkins.

McCray Eyes First Title

Johe McCray had the hot round Friday out at Jones East throwing a solid 49 (-12) to pull into the lead in the Master’s Division. Shasta Criss would put down a 50 (-11) to also pass Chris Smith and find himself in 2nd place. Chris Smith would fall back in similar fashion to Catrina Allen with only a (-5). Ken Climo would put down a solid (-8) to jump onto the lead card. Going into the semi-finals you have McCray at (-27), Criss at (-24), Chris Smith at (-24) and Ken Climo at (-20).
