Everett Wright is a 7 year old kid residing in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. You may have seen his now viral video on Facebook recently showcasing his throwing ability. The video was shot at the famed Hornets Nest course in Charlotte, NC. Everett was with his dad Nick getting in some quality time when Nick decided he would video his son throwing his 110g Skeeter from Hero Discs. It was one of the first times he even threw the disc. Nick told us “Hero Discs in Rancho Cucamonga make super light discs perfect for young ones which is nice because we live in Rancho”.
Everett is home schooled and he and his family go play disc golf as often as they can. His favorite discs are a ROC and a G-Star Aviar. Everett isn’t new to disc golf fame having already thrown some discs with Simon Lizotte and Avery Jenkins. The video now has well over 100k views and we asked Nick if he was expecting this type of reaction.
“No it was certainly a shock to see so many shares. Most comments are “That’s going to be my son some day” or “He throws better than me or you”. I think people can simply appreciate the joy of the game in his attitude.”
Nick and Everett play catch everyday which has helped develop Everett’s throwing ability. Nick stated “That’s the biggest reason he can throw. Not the friends we have or the pro’s that we visit with from time to time.” Unfortunately Everett doesn’t have many options to compete locally but Nick can already see the potential his son has.
“We play as a family but we have plans for Jr. Worlds next year.” We have no doubt that Everett has a bright future in disc golf. Even sponsors are taking notice. Nick told us “It’s crazy, he has had some interest shown from sponsors and he doesn’t even compete yet.”
If Everett can continue to lace fairways as shown in the video, he may be a force to be reckoned with sooner than later. And to all this attention he is receiving? Everett just smiles and gives a thumbs up.
We would like to thank Nick and Everett Wright as well as their family for sharing their story with Average Disc Golf. We will be keeping on eye on Everett and providing updates as his game develops.
