Average Disc Golf is starting a new blog series all about what is in our bag. Now, we are not brand loyal and we carry a very mixed bag. We don’t have every brand, but we have quite a few. If you’re a seasoned player this may not help you any, but if you are a bit new to the sport, we thought these blogs would give you non biased information on many different discs from different manufacturers.
Our next entry is a unique approach disc. The XT Nova from Innova Champion Discs.
The XT Nova was added to our bag for straight approach shots up to 200 feet. For a while we used the Classic Warden from Dynamic Discs, but we wanted to try something new and bagged us a XT Nova. AT first, the Nova was tough to hold. The little connectors (four of them) on the underside of the disc felt weird. But there is plenty of space to put your grip elsewhere where those don’t touch your hands. The Nova is deeper than the Warden. This also took some time to adjust to. Admittedly, the Nova has been one of the harder discs to get comfortable using. Because of this, we seem to use it less and less. It is still in the bag currently and we will continue to try and use it to see if we can get it down. When we have thrown it correctly, this disc is money. It flies dead straight and has a lot of glide. These flashes of flight keep us thinking the XT Nova has a ton of potential for our game, but it has been so tough to get it down, we are still in the feeling out stages.
At this point we couldn’t say whether the XT Nova fits our game, but it may fit yours. That is the reason for these articles. If you have found success with the XT Nova, comment below with your thoughts.
