Average Disc Golf started a new blog series all about what is in our bag. Now, we are not brand loyal and we carry a very mixed bag. We don’t have every brand, but we have quite a few. If you’re a seasoned player this may not help you any, but if you are a bit new to the sport, we thought these blogs would give you non biased information on many different discs from different manufacturers.
Our next entry is a very straight mid-range. The McPro Roc3 from Innova Champion Discs.
The McPro Roc3 has been in my bag since they released the 2015 tour series supporting Paul McBeth. I ordered a few from the Innova Factory store cause I was looking for a new disc that could replace a Buzzz SS I had aced with. I thought, why not give these a shot. I had already been bagging the Champion version, and I heard McBeth say they were totally different in his AMA. I wanted to try them. Right out of the box these were very straight. I could throw it on a slight hyzer and get a very straight flight with a ton of glide. Enough glide a few times that I would over throw my shot. I figured this was just part of the learning process. Anyhow, the disc seasoned nicely and began to fly very straight and then fade to the right (RHBH) very slightly at the end of its flight. I really liked this feature. On anhyzer lines I could crank this disc over and it would hold nicely and finish softly. Recently I was able to Ace with my McPro Roc3 with a a straight shot onto on island hole with a tail wind.
The McPro version and the Champ version stay in my bag and continue to be staples for my mid-range game. If you are a fan of the Buzzz SS, C-Line MD3 or a Dynamic Discs Truth (in Prime Plastic) this disc may be worth your attention.
