The 2016 Nick Hyde Memorial Tournament presented by Hyzerbomb and Milllenium Disc Golf is this weekend in Rockwall, Texas. Video coverage will be available courtesy of Jomez Productions, so we are looking forward to that. The top players in the game will be in attendance including Paul McBeth, Nate Sexton, Simon Lizotte and Jeremy Koling. On the ladies side expect to see Paige Pierce, Sarah Hokom and Jennifer Allen battling it out for a win.
Players will be attacking Harry Myers Park DGC designed by top course designer, John Houck. With over 6000 feet of moderately hilly and wooded terrain, the course is always a tough challenge.
When asked what his main focus was this weekend going into the event Paul McBeth stated “No crying over the mud”. McBeth agreed that staying mentally strong and playing the course as it is, would be key to a victory this weekend saying “It’ll be near impossible to not slip or take bogies”. Indeed after any sort of rain, Harry Myers can stay fairly wet for a period time causing some issues with footing.
Nate Sexton told us that putting would be the part of his game he would need at its best this weekend. “It is just very important to playing well”. Simon Lizotte told us his main focus was “Beating Eagle McMahon”. When asked for further comment, Lizotte didn’t have any. 😉
When asked what her focus would be this weekend, Sarah Hokom said “…trusting my shots and game plan and staying mentally focused.”. Staying mentally focused will be a need of every player this weekend.
Keep an eye on Bradley Williams who is fresh off a win at the 2016 Texas States. He may have some momentum going into this tournament.
