Nate’s Sit Atop Leaderboard After Round II
That would be Nate Doss and Nate Sexton. Doss threw a blazing hot first round at (-11) and Sexton came in at (-8). Doss would cool off a bit in the 2nd round as he was 6 strokes worse in the second round, carding a 62 (-5). Doss only had one double bogey on the round, but did not card near as many birdies as round 1. After 2 rounds he finds himself at (-16) overall, tied with Nate Sexton. Sexton came out as consistent as the first round notching another 59 (-8) as he did in round 1. He was 2 strokes worse on the front nine in the 2nd round, but 2 strokes better on the back 9. If Sexton can continue this trend, he could find himself on the lead card on Championship Saturday.

Their fellow competitors did not fair as well in the 2nd round. Eagle McMahon made his 1st lead card at the USDGC but couldn’t keep his momentum shooting a disappointing round at 67 (E) and dropping from 2nd to a tie for 11th place. Michael Johansen also struggled in the 2nd round coming in with a 64 (-3) that was 3 strokes worse than round one. Johansen put down a bogey for holes 14 and 16, both he birdied in the first round. His back nine score was 4 strokes worse and he finds himself in 7th place.
McBeth is Steady, Schusterick Improves
Reigning Champion, Will Schusterick left a lot to be improved after his poor first round. “…probably the worst round I have had in the last 5 years on this course” said Schusterick after his 1st round. Schusterick came out looking for birdies and scored a few on the front nine. He left a few out there though on the back nine, coming in with a 62 (-5). He finds himself at (-3) overall in 25th place. Paul McBeth shot a steady 62 (-5) in his 1st round at Winthrop and he would duplicate that during his 2nd round. McBeth came out on fire on the front nine with 4 straight birdies. Once again, McBeth would find a double bogey on his card after taking a 7 (+2) on the tough hole 13. McBeth is still in the hunt for the title and could find himself on the lead card Friday sitting in 4th place.

Geisinger, Melton, and Colglazier Move Up
Alex Geisinger matched the hot round with Nate Sexton with a 59 (-8) and finds himself in 3rd place on the lead card. Zach Melton and Cameron Colglazier both moved up in a hurry each netting at 60 (-7) to move into contention. “The Champ” Ken Climo struggled all round and put down an abysmal 69 (+2).
