The 2015 PDGA Season was definitely one for the books! Disc Golf grew in so many ways, we couldn’t cover them all. Here is our Top 5 Moments from the 2015 PDGA Season.
#5 – Hole 18: Final Round of 2015 Memorial Championships
Jeremy Koling and Paul McBeth battled down to the end of the 2015 Memorial Championship at the first NT stop of the season. On the final hole, McBeth and Koling played their drives wide of the basket with both player having over 50 feet for their birdie putts… Here is what happened next…
#4 – Lizotte Claims Largest Purse in Disc Golf History
The 2015 Ledgestone Insurance Open boasted the largest payout in PDGA History. Simon Lizotte was the last man standing and took disc golf’s largest check to date. Here is Lizotte’s final hole.
#3 – McBeth wins 4th World Title
Paul Mcbeth entered the 2015 season seeking his 4th straight World Title. After battling back and setting two consecutive course records, he was able to accomplish the feat only completed by one other player, “The Champ” Ken Climo. This is video from his final hole.
#2 – 2015 St. Jude Disc Golf Charity Invitational
The PDGA along with its players, fans, and media outlets teamed up to raise over $200K benefiting the St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Here is video previewing the event.
#1 – Paige Pierce & Sarah Hokom at the 2015 World Championships
After a serious car accident, Open leader Sarah Hokom went from the lead by 5 strokes to behind by 4 strokes. Hokom was assesses 7 strokes for the two hole she missed while trying to scramble to the course in time. Hokom battled back and went into the final few holes neck and neck with 2X Champion Paige Pierce. Pierce would end up the victor, but in a display of true sportsmanship, Pierce would hand over her trophy to Hokom. In the video below, Pierce discusses the events shortly after her Worlds Victory. We didn’t forget about the explosion of coverage including several appearances on major media such as ESPN! We feel an ace is an ace. A great shot, worthy of being recognized on the likes of Sportscenter. But, we feel these moments were worth more than just 1 great shot. Even if it was on the Top 10.
